ideas for the new web…
- decide on a host between tilde, neocities, nekoweb, etc
- figure out the shortest path from typing on your phone in markdown, to getting it through the SSH into tilde town
- refactor your website towards the most current version of ruby and jekyll. the structure is there, but there’s a lot of redundancy and ad-hoc copy-pastes that aren’t extendable. an easy method to insert images is necessary too. (Or you could even bring the bridge together by physically taking pictures of handwritten diary entries and obsessively cataloging your life.)
- I’m obsessed with the neocities girlies who are posting their most recent songs, favorite anime ships, yuri art and fanfiction, webring links to other sapphics, bright neon lights and marquees and cutesy cursors, posting “what’s in my bag!”, little “about me” sections for each of their OCs, a virtual chat room and guestbook, a notice board with recent updates, and just a little box for your current status/most recent thought. it is so cool. I actually love how neocities/nekoweb and tildeverse have the same philosophy at their core, but one is… I hate to say it, but more feminine-coded? and one is more masculine. (Though I would be remiss to ignore the many computer science trans women on the tilde.club side.)
- Me? I’ll be in the middle. I have GOT to get a little weirder with it.
- Small nitpick, workflow wise, maybe I can just look at index.html directly rather than hosting it locally on localhost:4000, it’ll be easier?
- Larger idea, i can just lock in on learning html, ditch the markdown workflow/static site generator altogether , and just build it ground-up?
- Funny idea, i just cover the whole thing in leaves and my little pony gifs that walk around
- List all the books and movies and stuff i like in 2026 on a little virtual bookshelf!
- Uhh make it a similar vibe to my weird fun touchdesigner rave visual laincoded stuff
- Just make more art and poems to fill things up
- You should just go ahead and populate more and more photo albums btw. Though the unfortunate part is having to host the images somewhere else (imgur, cloudflare, ewwwwwwe 🐑)
- I NEED. a visual editor. I cannot do this in the fucking command line. I’m sorry nano and linux
- My favorite emojis
- My favorite poems
- Bro the girlies are connecting their websites to last.fm. How can i even compete with that. They’re building MULTIPLE themes and adding buttons that rain confetti on all the divs. The enbies are adding their song lyrics and cookie recipes. The software engineers of github pages CANNOT come close. It’s unfair.
- Notably the author of whipping girl has her website on one of these hosts and has a more maximalist aesthetic to it.
- I think are.na is a great aggregator of ideas, you just have to make sure you’re making your own shit and writing your ideas too.
- Bro if I put my high school social map on one of these pages it’d be legit cool: If I made another social map of the zsom community it’d be double cool, but that’s kind of impossible nowadays for multiple reasons, there’s no need to list them here. I think the only objective way to take all this data would be to give every zsom student a poll that says “In the last month, name all of the people you feel you’ve talked to the most.” But this is a huge digression.
- My only annoyance with this is fucking optimizing the site for mobile. I found a glitch today that’s only present in chrome desktop. This same glitch disappears if you’re inspect-elementing it, making it impossible to work up. There’s another separate, but equally annoying glitch in my phone where the font sizes look horribly sifferent between safari and chrome ios. And don’t even talk to me about the fucking line breaks in the poem. At this point I’m copying and pasting a fucking IMAGE with the proper spacing. Or god forbid, Idont even want to think about it but maybe I’ll be driven to embed a pdf.
